Corbett Gardens in Bowral is the show piece of the Tulip Time Festival and dates back to 1911 when, at the suggestion of Mrs Ada Corbett, the local tourist association purchased Deadmans Paddock for a public park. Corbett Gardens, located in the centre of town, boasts a huge array of tulips and colourful springtime bulbs, shrubs and trees. Corbett Gardens in Bowral, one of the region’s oldest and most beautiful parks, is the centre piece of the Spring Garden Festival with over 75,000 massed tulips on display and 20,000 annuals. The Festival attracts over 39,000 people each year and is held at the end of September over two This garden is a public garden and managed by the local council. Entry to the garden is free of charge at most times, however, an entry fee applies during the Tulip Time Festival, which this year runs from Tuesday September 12 until Sunday September 24. It should be noted the garden will be closed for Tulip Time set up on Monday September 11.

Oak Park has a large park area and is located near ocean baths. Oak Park has a rocky shoreline with an ocean bath for swimming. There is a grassed area, seating and playground, but no kiosk or eating facilities. Oak Park is smaller than Shelly beach, and is likely to be less crowded. The ocean baths are not patrolled by lifeguards. Dogs are prohibited on the beach and in the baths. Dogs on-leash are allowed in the grassed areas of the park and on the walkway. To hold a ceremony or have related photography at the park you must contact Council to make a booking. Alcohol consumption is prohibited at all times, unless written approval has been obtained by Council.

Glenn McEnalley Reserve is named in honour of a local policeman who died on duty in Hillsdale in 2002. He was posthumously awarded the Commissioner’s Valour Award. The constable was born in 1976 and joined the New South Wales Police Force on 14 November, 1997. At the time of his death was attached to the City East Highway Patrol.

Neptune Park is a small grassed reserve located in between Grant Reserve and Trenerry Reserve along the Coastal Walkway south of Coogee Beach. There are no facilities here. Named after the aboriginal word for “beauty”. The park was acquired in 1942 from the Estate of Joseph Charles Tricker, builder, who lived in the adjoining house ‘Goulburn Grange’, which was built in 1907. The park contains remnant native ridge-top trees of Blackbutt and Turpentine which provide plenty of shade. There are three covered picnic tables, a double plated BBQ and a playground in the park.

Sandy Bay lies immediately north of Clontarf with Sandy Bay Road providing access to the bay. The 120m wide bay is very sheltered and faces southeast toward The Spit just 500 m away. It has a low, narrow, curving 150 m long high tide beach (SH 17) fronted by intertidal sand flats up to 200 m wide, which fills most of the bay. The road runs around the rear of the beach, terminating at the northern end of the bay, with a small creek draining to the centre. Boats are moored off the sand flats.

Moore Reserve is an open space area in the Oatley District comprising approximately 14 hectares bordering on the suburbs of Oatley and Hurstville Grove in Southern Sydney. The reserve is a former municipal garbage tip that has been converted into reclaimed grass fields with recreational facilities and an artificial wetland area.

Named after the Chatswood Estate of Richard Hayes Harnett (1819-1902). In 1898 Council acquired the land, which had been Chinese market gardens. More land was purchased in 1909, 1914 and 1932. The sports oval has been the home ground of the Gordon (formerly Willoughby) District Cricket Club since 1900 and the Gordon Highlanders (formerly Roseville) Rugby Club since 1936. Chatswood Skate Park was opened in the park 26 January 2001 and refurbished in June 2008.

Elsie was a pioneer for women in dentistry, opening her practice in Hampden Road in 1945 and later moving to Wilkes Avenue until her retirement in 1974. She was the first honorary dental surgeon at the Rachel Forster Hospital for Women and Children for 22 years, and also provided dental services to the Burnside Children’s Homes for 14 years.
